At NPE2018, Orion Engineered Carbons (NYSE: OEC) will introduce its newest conductive Specialty Carbon Black XPB 633 BEADS. XPB 633 BEADS are specifically developed for thermoplastics requiring conductivity and anti-static properties. In addition, Orion will showcase PRINTEX zeta A BEADS for pressure pipe; AROSPERSE 5-183A BEADS for wire and cable applications; and PRINTEX kappa 10 for applications requiring electrostatic dissipation. NPE2018, the International Plastics Showcase, will take place May 7 through May 11 in Orlando, Florida.
XPB 633 BEADS are ideally suited for plastic auto body parts that require conductivity to ensure trouble-free coating. They also are appropriate for electronics packaging and for blown films for a range of packaging applications.
“XPB 633 BEADS exhibit excellent dispersion quality,” said Bhuvanesh Yerigeri, Ph.D., Senior Technical Market Manager, Polymers, Americas. “Plus, they improve compound melt flow rates and mechanical properties compared to our predecessor grade.”
Orion continues to expand its portfolio of Specialty Carbon Black grades. “We are always fine-tuning our offerings to respond to the evolving requirements of a broad range of polymeric applications and to improve finished-product performance,” said Joey LeBlanc, Marketing Manager, Polymers, Americas.
Purity, Cleanliness, Dispersibility
PRINTEX zeta A BEADS are designed especially for use in PE 100 and PE 4710 pipe for gas and water distribution. The high chemical purity and physical cleanliness of PRINTEX zeta A BEADS minimize taste and odor effects. Low compound moisture absorption and excellent microscopic dispersion performance ensure a smooth, defect-free pipe. In addition, PRINTEX zeta A BEADS provide superb UV protection for long-term stability.
AROSPERSE® 5-183A BEADS, a soft-beaded Furnace Black for use in semi-conductive insulation shields for medium-voltage cables, is a very clean product with excellent dispersion properties. With low sulfur impurities and low sieve residues, AROSPERSE 5-183A BEADS also make an excellent choice for potable water pipe, where high purity, cleanliness and excellent dispersion extend service life.
PRINTEX kappa 10 provides electrostatic dissipation for applications such as high-end electronic packaging. A non-treated Furnace Black, PRINTEX kappa 10 features low levels of ions and sulfur.
“The high physical cleanliness and smooth pellet quality of PRINTEX kappa 10 results in excellent dispersion and surface smoothness,” said Dr. Yerigeri.
