The ever increasing costs of raw materials along with the increasing difficulty to dispose of high contaminated wastes are creating a new recovery chain for high contaminated metallic products and container such as oils, paints, pesticides, hydrocarbons etc. These containers of different sizes have one thing in common: they are made with a light medium metallic sheet, which is grinded with special shredders of adequate strength and power. After shredding it, giving a medium and quite regular size to the metal, it is necessary to clean these products up. The first step is the separation of the metal from foreign bodies like wood, cardboard, plastic and various inert. This operation is carried out by means of magnetic systems or eddy currents.
At this point the contaminated sheet must be washed.
There are steam or solvent washing systems but in both cases, they involve high management costs, a certain degree of hazard and low productions as they work in batch.
Tecnofer has made for over than 40 years washing plants for plastic material, it has studied and implemented a centrifuge for the cleaning and the washing of the shredded sheet, using only water as cleaning element. The machines washing the metal sheet come from the LO series’ centrifuges, produced by the company itself in hundreds of specimens for washing high contaminated plastic materials.
The washing effect on the product is obtained by the centrifugal force of the rotor assisted by the water input together with the metal sheet. Inside the holed stator, the metal sheet and the water undergo a violent action causing the detachment of pollutants from the metal sheet. The pollutants are expelled outside the holed stator conveyed by the water. The outcome in terms of cleaning is really high.
The washing machines, selected on the basis of the demanded hourly capacity work non-stop without breaks and their operating cost compared to their production per hour and the degree of quality obtained is very much convenient.
