TOSHIBA MACHINE DOUBLES FOOTPRINT IN MIDWEST US

Injection Molding sales, service and assembly together under same roof for first time

Toshiba Machine will consolidate Injection Molding operations from two locations into a standalone, 58,000 sq. ft. facility not far from its North American headquarters and Midwest Technical Center, doubling its footprint in the Midwest and resulting in additional capabilities not previously available.
It’s a major step forward for Toshiba Machine, which broke from its parent company, Toshiba Corp., just a year ago. “We’ve been working on finding a new home to consolidate our Injection Molding capabilities ever since,” said Vice President and General Manager Tom McKevitt. “This new space is perfect. It enables us to move assembly out of a remotely located shared space into a significantly larger, newly renovated facility with ample space for sales and service. And it’s just a block from our North American headquarters.”
According to McKevitt, the building’s state-of-the-art infrastructure is uniquely designed to support light assembly, enabling Toshiba to prebuild machines according to customers’ specifications, improving flow and ultimately shortening lead times. It also will enable them to initiate new systems such as bar coding to automate the traceability of replacement parts.
“We’ve been in our Elk Grove Village location since 1974, so we’re more than ready for a change,” said McKevitt. “At a time when many businesses are downsizing or moving into shared office spaces, we’re doing the exact opposite. By having all of our operations under a single roof, we can better service our customers and support our industry,” he added.
Toshiba Machine Co., America is a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Machine Co., Ltd., of Tokyo, Japan. Based in Elk Grove Village, IL, Toshiba’s Injection Molding Machines Division designs and builds electric, hydraulic and hybrid molding machines ranging from 25 to 4000 tons, and offers a wide range of specialty molding technologies.
