Sepro Group (La Roche Sur Yon, France), a major global manufacturer of 3, 5, and 6-axis robots for injection molding machines, has appointed Raul Scheller to be Managing Director of Sepro operations in North America.
As Sepro’s top executive in the region, Scheller joins an experienced executive team and a organization that has grown steadily in sales and employment since 2007, when Sepro America was launched as a joint venture with Conair, and 2008, when it became a wholly-owned daughter company of Sepro Group.
“For more than a decade, we have been expanding in the U.S.A., Canada and Mexico and have enjoyed great success. Now it is time to prepare the organization for the next 10 years and beyond, and Raul Scheller will play a key role,” says Jean-Michel Renaudeau, CEO of Sepro Group.
Scheller has almost 30 years of international business management experience. Before joining Sepro, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Team Technologies (Albuquerque, NM) a contract engineering and manufacturing services firm that develops and builds sophisticated data acquisition, control, and industrial automation equipment used in research, aerospace, and industrial applications. Prior to that, his resume includes 13 years as General Manager, Americas for Clariant’s Performance Packaging business unit and 7 years with a Chicago private equity group and eventually becoming President of their Los Angeles-based injection-molding firm.
Scheller holds an MBA in International Business from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a BS in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University. He plans to relocate from Albuquerque to the Greater Pittsburgh area in summer 2018.
Scheller joins Sepro on the heels of a recent physical expansion that brought large-robot assembly operations from France to its expanded Sepro America facility in Warrendale, PA – a move that will expedite deliveries to customers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. At the same time, the expansion provided additional engineering space for Sepro’s automation business, Solutions by Sepro, which develops and integrates pre-and post-mold systems that enable plastics processors to perform value-added, secondary manufacturing operations for their customers. Additional staffing to support these activities, as well as expanded technical and field service to support recent sales gains in Canada and Mexico, bring Sepro’s growing North American workforce to about 70.
Sepro was one of the first companies in the world to develop Cartesian beam robots for injection-molding machines, introducing its first CNC controlled “manipulator” in 1981. Today, having equipped more than 33,000 injection-molding machines, Sepro Group is one of the largest sellers of robots in the world. Its 3-, 5- and 6-axis servo robots, special-purpose units and complete automation systems, are all supported by the Visual control platform developed by Sepro especially for injection molders. This unique controller is a key component in what the company refers to as ‘open integration’ – a collaborative approach to equipment connectivity and interoperability between the robot and the IMM that can be tailored to exactly suit the specific needs of processors and injection-molding OEMs. For Sepro and its customers and partners, “The Future is Wide Open 4 .0.”
